Kim is a dedicated practitioner and student of Anusara yoga. With 13 years experience, Kim is known for her detailed alignment instructions, that are delivered with a high level of knowledge, skill, enthusiasm, and often humor. These are all traits that allow her students to heal, grow and accept the world around them. She helps her students find a therapeutic experience in every posture, to heal the body, steady the mind and uplift the heart and spirit. Yoga has personally helped her heal many injuries (including a broken back), overcome addictions, and learn how to look for the good and grace in all of life.

Kim is my teacher, not just in Anusara yoga during my personal training, and also in my Teacher training, but in life. I am lifted up with her knowledge, amazing inner bright and the love she shows in sharing all that she has. Her grace and exuberance move her forward and her humility and eagerness to continue to learn and grow is to me the most endearing quality in human being and she lives it full force. Acceptance is a crucial part of her existence, which is wonderful since I am a lot to accept! When I created this retreat I had no one else in mind to lead a group of people to a place they can open their own hearts too. She is the shit. Come join me in finding your way.

I have been in the culinary world for almost 20 years and have had the opportunity to work with many amazing people and companies. Through the years I have come to realize how food has impacted my entire life. I have met so many people from so many cultures, made memories and created traditions that have become centered around real food and love. Nothing makes me more happy than when I’m feeding someone. Getting to share information about new foods, telling stories of how the meal came to be, or reliving a memory of loved ones that have passed as I make something they showed me how to cook. Although I do get excited about creating some new exotic dish for a large event, I must admit that a simple dinner with family and friends is grander than any recognition the world may give me.
I am excited to be apart of this amazing retreat and look forward to sharing food, love and peace with all who join us!
When I met Bridgette, it was, as with everything else to do with putting this retreat together, handed to me from the universe. The passion she has for food and creating a comforting and a celebratory environment is outrageous. On top of that, she is cognizant of the whole fresh and local scene, our food sources are going to be amazing and all local to No Cal. Her knowledge of nutrition and balance is prime and acute! As we mull over options for the menu, I am here to tell you, you don’t want to miss a moment of time watching her create a meal with all her heart! We are so freaking lucky to have her apart of the Cognizant Reconstruction team in Northern California! I’m salivating just thinking about next month and the fare that awaits us!

My name is John Harris. Originally a chef from San Jose, California, I have been living and working in Sacramento for the last 3 years. My fiancé and I have been together for 7 years and we are a happy little family of 4. Becoming a father has been one of my greatest accomplishments.
My love for cooking and food came to me at a young age inspired by my mom. Because my mother was sick, she taught me how to cook and I began to cook for mom and my younger brother. As I grew up, cooking became my passion. I put all of my heart into it. The best compliment I could ever receive is when someone tells me that I cook like I love what I’m doing. There is something about creating a dish, serving it to someone and watching them enjoy it. That keeps me smiling.
I am excited to be a part of Cognizant Reconstruction’s Folsom/Auburn Retreat. I believe that eating healthy and delicious foods is important physically and mentally. I haven’t always eaten healthy and had no idea where to start. I’m here, learning and growing. I am so excited to do that now at the Folsom/Auburn and share my love of food, cooking and togetherness at this awesome Retreat.
When I met John, it was during an interview for the position of chef for the Folsom/Auburn Retreat. As John did not have the experience in Nutrition that I was looking for as Chef for the retreat, I couldn’t deny him the opportunity to interview. John has come to me as many people do into my life. Ripe with a desire to grow and follow his heart into the direction of his future.
He is eager to fulfill his hearts happiness as he does what he loves for a living and support his family. I am blessed to have John assist me at the Retreat this August in Folsom and Auburn. I believe that everyone attending will be blessed with his knowledge and desire to move forward in life. And on top of it, he is a positive, funny guy, bound to bring joy to all of us.
John, as this all seems a tad bit mad, trust me, you have the passion, you have the support, do what you love. I cannot wait to work with you next month!
